Deck cradle
Deck cradle
Deck cradle for the diesel launch
As the diesel tender arrived at Graafship one of the last items left of the deck metal work was to determine the exact location of the deck cradles and weld in the cups for the cradle deck eyes. As the tender is quite large (17’ LOD & 800 Kg) and there is not a lot of surplus deck space outboard of the main companionway deck house the best way to figure it out, just like with the small tender, was to just lift it up on deck and hang it in the davits and try. After a couple of tries we found a way to place it parallel to the cap rail in spite of the fact that there were some geometric restrictions with the davits. The solution was a double block system for the aft davit that allows the aft of the tender to be moved sideways, with the davits in a static position, just before being set down in the cradle. What looked to be a complicated geometry problem in the very end had a very simple solution.
